01
Chapter One

The Truth About Timelines

Most designers tell you what you want to hear. We tell you what you need to know. Quality interiors take a minimum of 6 weeks — and rushing is the single biggest cause of disappointment.

1
Week 1 – 2
Design & Planning
Site measurement, mood board creation, 3D visualisation, material selection, and your sign-off. This phase cannot be rushed — every minute here saves hours on site later.
2
Week 3 – 4
Procurement & Civil Work
Material ordering and lead times, civil work begins — false ceiling, flooring preparation, electrical rerouting. Premium materials can have 10–14 day lead times that cannot be shortcut.
3
Week 5 – 6
Furniture & Joinery
Modular kitchen fabrication, wardrobes, custom furniture manufacturing and installation. Factory lead times are non-negotiable — this is where "fast" studios cut corners.
4
Week 7 – 8
Finishing & Handover
Painting, lighting installation, styling, accessorising, punch list walk-through, and final handover. The details that define whether a home feels finished or merely done.
02
Chapter Two

Understanding Real Costs

Interior design costs in Bangalore are more transparent than most designers admit. Here is our honest breakdown — including why costs can vary 10–15% from your initial estimate.

Essential
₹1,300
per square foot
  • Standard modular kitchen
  • Quality laminates & hardware
  • Basic false ceiling design
  • Standard electrical work
  • Good quality materials
Best for: 2BHK, first homes
Premium
₹1,800
per square foot
  • Premium modular systems
  • Imported laminates & veneer
  • Designer lighting layouts
  • Feature walls & texture
  • Coordinated accessories
Best for: 3BHK, upgrade projects
Luxury
₹2,100
per square foot
  • Fully bespoke joinery
  • Natural stone & marble
  • Custom furniture design
  • Architectural lighting
  • Full Rashmi supervision
Best for: Villas, penthouses
Why Your Final Cost May Vary 10–15%
Design Complexity
Custom curves, arches, or multi-level ceilings require more labour and material than straight lines.
Material Upgrades
You may fall in love with a finish that costs more than the budgeted option. This happens in almost every project.
Site Conditions
Older buildings or existing plumbing positions can require additional civil work only discovered on site.
Scope Additions
As the space takes shape, most clients add a feature wall or an upgraded lighting scheme. Completely normal.

Chapter Three

The 3 Mistakes That Ruin Projects

After 8+ years in Bangalore's interior market, these are the three mistakes we see most often — and how to protect yourself from each one.

01
Over-Promise, Under-Deliver
The most common problem in Bangalore's interior market. A designer wins the project with beautiful renders and ambitious promises — then cheaper materials get substituted, timelines slip by months, and supervision disappears after the deposit is paid.
How to protect yourself: Ask for references from completed projects. Visit those homes. Ask specifically: "Was the project delivered on time? Were there material substitutions?"

The Mystiques standard: Every material is specified in writing before work begins. No substitutions without your written approval.
02
Over-Pricing Without Transparency
Some studios mark up materials by 40–60% without disclosure. You end up paying luxury prices for standard-grade materials. The lack of itemised quotations is the biggest red flag in this industry.
How to protect yourself: Always ask for an itemised quotation — line by line, material by material. Any designer who refuses to provide one is hiding something.

The Mystiques standard: Fully itemised quotations with material specifications. You know exactly what you are paying for.
03
No Punctuality or Accountability
Site supervision goes missing. Calls go unanswered. Workers arrive when they feel like it. This is the reality of many Bangalore interior projects — and it is entirely avoidable if you choose the right studio.
How to protect yourself: Ask "Who will be my single point of contact?" and "How often will you be on site?" A studio that cannot answer clearly is not ready for your home.

The Mystiques standard: Rashmi or a senior team member is on site at every critical milestone.

Chapter Five

The Mystiques Difference

There are over 1,400 interior designers listed in Bangalore. Here is what makes Mystiques of R&A genuinely different — and why it matters for your home.

Mystiques of R&A
Bespoke Over Preset
Every home begins with a blank page and a conversation about how you live, what you love, and what your family needs. No two Mystiques homes look alike — because no two families are alike.
Typical Studio
Preset Packages
Most studios have 3–4 standard "styles" applied to every project. Clients end up with homes that look like each other — and like every other flat in their building.
Mystiques of R&A
Rashmi. Always.
Rashmi personally oversees every project from first meeting to final handover. The person you met is the person who designs your home. No handoffs. No juniors. No surprises.
Typical Studio
Principal Wins, Junior Delivers
Large studios have principals who win projects, then delegate to assistants. What you saw in the presentation is not always what you get on site.
Mystiques of R&A
Full Transparency
Itemised quotations. Written material specifications. Regular update calls. No hidden markups. You always know exactly where your money is going and why.
Typical Studio
Lump Sum Quoting
Industry standard is to provide lump-sum quotes without line-item breakdown — making it impossible to compare, verify, or understand where your budget is going.

Chapter Six

Your Pre-Start Checklist

Before your designer walks in for the first time, make sure you have these 15 things ready. Projects that start prepared finish better — on time and on budget.

Get possession and complete builder snagging before design work starts
Define your budget range — a comfort zone (min–max), not just a single number
Collect 10–15 inspiration images from Instagram or Pinterest
List every family member's specific needs — study, prayer room, WFH space
Confirm your move-in date — this determines your project timeline
Check building rules on drilling, working hours, and material storage
Decide which rooms are absolute priority and which can be phase 2
List existing furniture you want to retain and incorporate
Discuss colour preferences openly — including colours you strongly dislike
Agree internally on decision-making — who has final say?
Always ask for itemised quotations — never accept a lump sum
Clarify payment terms and milestone-based release schedule before signing
Get the material specification list in writing before work begins
Establish one point of contact at the studio — and get their direct number
Budget 15% above your quoted figure as a comfort buffer — always
