How Long Does Home Interior Design Take in Bangalore? (The Real Timeline, Week by Week)

“How long will my interiors take?”

It’s the second question every client asks — right after “How much will it cost?”

And it’s the one most designers answer vaguely. “6–8 weeks,” they say. Then it’s 4 months later and you still don’t have a kitchen.

At Mystiques of R&A, we promise **45 working days** from design sign-off to handover for a standard 2BHK. Here’s exactly what happens in those 45 days — and what happens before them too.

## The Full Interior Design Journey: Start to Finish

### Phase 1: Discovery & Consultation (Week 1)
**What happens:** We visit your flat, take measurements, understand your brief, lifestyle, and budget. We ask questions most designers don’t: How do you use your kitchen? Do you work from home? How much storage do you actually need?

**What you do:** Share reference images, tell us what you love and hate, give us your honest budget.

**Output:** A clear project scope and rough budget estimate. No commitments yet.

### Phase 2: Design Development (Weeks 2–3)
**What happens:** Our designers create full 3D visualisations of every room — photorealistic renders showing furniture, materials, colours, and lighting exactly as they’ll look in your space.

This is where we show you two or three design directions and refine based on your feedback. We don’t move to execution until you’ve seen and approved every room.

**What you do:** Review the 3D designs, give feedback, request changes. This is your chance to change anything — it costs nothing at this stage.

**Output:** Approved 3D designs + finalised material selections + detailed itemised quote.

### Phase 3: Agreement & Production (Week 3–4)
**What happens:** Once you approve the designs and sign off on the quote, we place orders with our fabricators and vendors. Custom furniture goes into production. Materials are procured. Execution is scheduled.

**What you do:** Pay the first milestone (typically 50% of project value). Confirm possession date if it’s a new flat.

**Why this matters:** Many delays happen because clients approve too slowly or request changes after production starts. The faster you sign off, the faster your project starts.

### Phase 4: Civil & Electrical Work (Days 1–10 of execution)
**What happens:** If your project includes civil work — tile laying, plastering, wall modifications — this happens first. Electrical points are added or shifted for concealed lighting, appliances, and fan positions.

**Pro tip:** This is also when we handle any pre-existing issues in the flat — uneven walls, poor waterproofing, structural fixes. Better to address them now than after everything is installed.

### Phase 5: Carpentry & Fabrication (Days 10–30)
**What happens:** The modular kitchen, wardrobes, TV unit, storage units, and all custom furniture are installed. This is the most intensive phase — your flat will look like a construction site and that is completely normal.

**What you do:** Try not to visit every day. Seriously. Trust the process. Daily visits often slow down the team and cause anxiety that isn’t warranted.

**Milestone check:** Around Day 20, we do a mid-project walkthrough with you to confirm everything is tracking to design.

### Phase 6: False Ceiling, Painting & Lighting (Days 28–40)
**What happens:** False ceiling structure is installed, finished, and painted. Walls are sanded, primed, and painted. Lighting fixtures are fitted and tested. This is when the flat starts looking like a home.

Colour selection has already happened in Phase 2 — there are no surprises here.

### Phase 7: Finishing & Styling (Days 40–45)
**What happens:** All snag items are fixed. Hardware is fitted (handles, hinges, locks). Soft furnishings like curtains are installed if included in scope. The flat is cleaned and photographed.

**The walkthrough:** We do a final walkthrough with you, room by room. Any minor issues are noted and resolved within 48 hours.

**Handover:** You get the keys to a finished home.

## What Can Delay an Interior Project?

Honest answer — most delays are avoidable. Here’s what causes them:

| Cause | How to Avoid It |
|——-|—————-|
| Late design approvals | Review and sign off promptly; changes after approval add days |
| Slow milestone payments | Pay on schedule; production can’t start without it |
| Scope changes mid-project | Finalise everything before execution starts |
| Flat not ready / possession delayed | Communicate possession date clearly upfront |
| Material unavailability | Choose from in-stock materials where possible |

A good designer will flag these risks before execution starts, not after they’ve already caused a delay.

## Renovation vs. Fresh Interior Work: Does It Take Longer?

Yes — typically 15–25% longer.

Renovation projects involve demolition, disposal, civil repairs, and often unexpected discoveries (old wiring, dampness, uneven surfaces) that add time. For a 2BHK renovation, plan for 55–65 working days rather than 45.

## Can It Be Done Faster? The 30-Day Question

Clients sometimes ask if we can do it in 30 days. Occasionally, for a smaller scope (kitchen + wardrobes only, no civil work), yes.

For a full home, compressing to 30 days means the team is rushing, quality checks are skipped, and snag lists balloon. We don’t do it — and you shouldn’t want us to.

The 45-day timeline exists because it produces a result that lasts 15 years, not 3.

## Starting Soon? Here’s When to Call Us

Ideally, reach out **4–6 weeks before your possession date**. This gives us time to complete the design and sign off before keys are in hand — so execution starts the day you take possession, not weeks later.
